Abstract

|
Once roentgenographic changes are apparent, osteonecrosis of the femoral head in the adult generally progresses to osteoarthritis within two to three years.
Because osteonectosis occurs in young adult, much efforts has been expended to devise procedures to conserve the femoral head.
The most widely used conservative surgical procedure is core decompression.
Consevative surgical procedures such as core decompression constitiute important area for further investigation.
